Dear GLORBsters!
The past 2 weeks have been super intense! All is going well in preparation for the GLORBs to soon be sent to you, our amazing backers. A lot is happening daily, but below is a short summary of what’s going on. We’ll soon have time to make a more thorough update on the current state of GLORB.
🔄 1) Quick update
Alex is working hard in the factory to set everything up for a smooth and effective production. We are waiting for a batch of 24 of the newest GLORBs to get to the office for the rest of the team to do testing and reviewing internally and also some external beta testing. After that we will produce the 120 pre-production units that will go to content creators and others for more beta testing. After these steps are done we make the last hardware changes and the GLORB should be ready to be produced for you. More videos of the newest GLORB version will be shown in the next update.
🧪 Beta testing is started
We’re establishing beta-testing protocols for the 24 incoming units, including a few live events and evaluations by selected friends. The 120 pre-production units will also undergo comprehensive beta testing to ensure quality and performance.
📱 App development & your feedback
App development is progressing, though it’s been challenging with a tight timeline and limited developers. Some features may be basic initially out of the box, requiring frequent firmware updates. Our question to you: would you be okay with that?
While it sucks to not get all features perfect from the start, this would give us time to develop what we know is needed. As a bonus, we would set it up so that you, our dear backers, can act as alpha testers and give direct feedback that becomes the foundation for improving the app, features, and overall functionality. We will be more clear with what functions/features will be unfinished closer to shipping in October and timelines for those updates.
📦 Shipping update
As it looks now we are on schedule to send the first batch of GLORBs in October. Exactly when in October is hard to say and will be more clear closer to the date. Delivery is estimated within 4–6 weeks from shipping and we are doing what we can to speed up this process.
🚨 2) BackerKit update — 📝 91% complete (2 days left)
The BackerKit surveys have stalled with 2 days left at 91% completion (about 200 surveys missing). Besides reminder emails, we have also reached out individually to those who have not filled their surveys through their registered emails.
Please note that the survey closes on August 31st. If you haven't completed the survey by then, we won't be able to send you the GLORBs you've paid for together with the other backers, and we would need to find a way later to get your shipping sorted and your GLORBs sent to you.
If you complete the survey, we will charge your card for the BackerKit total amount on Monday, September 2nd. Make sure you have funds available then.
Make sure to have your orders finalized by 31st of August. That means choosing your preferred pledge, confirming the Kickstarter one or adding more GLORBs, and updating shipping address and card information before that time. After the pledge manager closes, you will still be able to update your shipping address for 1 week before shipping starts (we will send a reminder).
